Aurore's birthday!!!!! 30 years young!

Svenska:

After this cheese and wine followed by apple pie and vanilla sauce.

As a completion we had strawberries with more champagne.
We added some grapes to this.

Had bought a beautiful red rose and an orkidée to my wife.
Aurore was remembered by both her and my family and friends with cards and telephone calls.

At last my wife has reached a good age and become a 'real woman'!!

'The Big Sellout'

Svenska:

Vi träffar en brittisk lokförare som arbetar för bevarandet av en väl fungerande brittisk järnväg i nedskärningarnas tidevarv;
en fillipinsk mor som kämpar för att hennes son skall få behandling för sin diabetes;
en sydafrikansk aktivist som engagerar sig i familjer som av det statliga elbolaget får sin el avstängd då de inte kan betala;

Aurore works at both her jobs as usual (7-12 and 1-5 pm) and in the evening it's time for a 'filmpremière' at cinema Zita:

'The Big Sellout' by Florian Optiz ('Der Grosse Ausverkauf').

This is a documentary that actually clutch to you, mainly through the destinies of the people depicted in the movie.

The movie tells the story of people that from different reasons, in different situations, in different countries demonstrate a great amount of engagement to the cause they believe in.

We get to meet a British traindriver who works for the maintenance of a well functioning British railway in times of cut-backs;
a Philipinian mother who fights for treatment for her diabetic son;
a South African activist who engages in families getting their electricity cut off by the publicly owned electric company when they can't pay;
the citizens in a Bolivian town who opposes privatization.

Even if their are underlying political-ideological motives affecting the message of the movie, it lay bare a whole range of absurd consequences being a result from the terms of ownership all around the globe.

This movie above all captures the viewer through - as Aurore and I experienced it - the highly eloquent persons with well reflected ideas introduced to us in this film.

It was a great privilege to make their acquaintance even if their struggle in some cases might have been in vain, when looking at the long stay results.

Tuyas Marriage

Svenska:

Idag fyller min gamle vän Styrbjörn år! Hurra!

Today my old friend Styrbjörn is celebrating his birthday. Hoorah!

Aurore and I visit the cinema Zita in the evening in order to see the film 'Tuyas marriage' by Quanan Wang, a film he received the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival (Berlinale) 2007.

This movie is enacted on the barren step in the inner of Mongolia and it tells the story of Tuya a mother of two children who fights for the survival of the family and she does this almost alone.

Her husband is handicaped since he was badly hurt in a leg when trying to dig for water and creating a well for the family and the cattle.

Tuya has to find a new partner who can support the family economically.
A pilgrimage starts from different parts of the territory when men arrives to propose to the attractive young woman.

Her demands are though almost unachievable. She doesn't want to leave her husband, whereby one of her demands is that he follows her and the rest of the family in to the new relationship with a new man.

Sorrow and happiness, misery and a certain abundance is mixed in this film with strong feelings and traditions, a woman and her exposed situation, loneliness and strength in a barren environment.
