Nous avons commencé notre tour dans le nord avec Göteborg, la deuxième plus grande ville en Suède.
En arrivant à l'hôtel le portier nous a dit: "En effet notre suite est libre, vous pouvez la prendre pour le même prix que votre chambre, si vous voulez!?" Puisque vous insistez monsieur! Non, nous n'avons pas dit ça mais...
Puis nous avons eu un rendez-vous avec mon ami Michael Engberg. Nous sommes des amis depuis l'âge de 13 ans et cela faisait maintenant trente ans(!) qu'on ne s'était vu! Il travaille comme acteur et metteur-en-scène pour le Théâtre de l'Ouest autour de Göteborg.
Nous partagions les intérêts du théâtre, de l'opéra et du cinéma quand nous étions jeunes mais aussi le tennis.
Après avoir mangé au restaurant avec lui, nous avons continué vers l'Opéra de Göteborg pour regarder 'Billy Budd' de Benjamin Britten, avec un de nos chanteurs préférés, Peter Mattei. Mais ce soir nous avons aussi découvert le chanteur (basse) Clive Bayley, un anglais que je ne connaissais pas et Aurore non plus. Il était aussi bien que Mattei et peut-être le meilleur chanteur ce soir là.
La mise en scène était merveilleuse et le chœur et l'orchestre aussi. Le seul problème - comme souvent - c'était les ténors!

We started our tour in the North by visiting Göteborg (Gothenburg), the second largest town in Sweden.
When arriving at the hotel, the hotel porter said to us: "As a matter of fact, our suite is free, you can have that one for the same price as your ordinary room, if you like!?" If you insist sir! No, we didn't say that but...
After this we met with my friend Michael Engberg. We have been friends since the age of 13 but now it's more than thirty years(!) since we last saw each other. He works as an actor and director in The Theater of the West Coast around Göteborg.
We shared the interests in theater, opera and film when we were young but also tennis.
After having eaten in a restaurant with him, we continued to the Opera House in Göteborg in order to look at 'Billy Budd' by Benjamin Britten with one of our favourite singers, Peter Mattei. But this evening we also discovered the singer (bass) Clive Bayely, an Englisman I didn't know about, and neither did Aurore. He was at least as good as Mattei and perhaps the best singer this evening.
The staging was fantastic and the choir and orchestra too. The only problem - as so often - was the tenors!
