The Yacoubian Building

Through internet we are invited to a preview of one of the films (it happens to be the only one we will see this year) at the Stockholm Film Festival:

The Yacoubian Building by Marwan Hamed.

This is a film about a building carrying the name of the original proprietor where people of different kinds live temporarily or permanently.

Through decades and different family's life stories, the capital of Egypt, Cairo ,is depicted displaying everyday life, containing 'ingredients' like corruption, fundamentalism, prostitution, drugs and double standards of morality concerning homosexuality.

An almost three hour long film but well worth seeing though not a masterpiece and narrratively fairly conventional in its structure.
