On monday the 6th, we decided to go to Öja/Landsort (information unfortunately only in Swedish) to take some pictures, get some fresh air and some inspiration.
Here are the photos!
It was a wonderful day! The sun glared down at us from a almost cloudless sky. We had prepared a pique nique basket and we really enjoyed sitting on some benches beneath the lighthouse Landsort eating our packed lunch.
This is the oldest lighthouse in Sweden even though there are three lighthouses in the southern province of Skåne that are older but they were built when this part of Sweden belonged to Denmark, so they don't count! It was built in its present shape in 1689 even though there had been other beacons on this spot previously, built in other materials.
To be on an island like this and just enjoying the fine weather and the sea is really fantastic.
I (Gunnar) have always been fascinated by the sea, the fresh air and being able to take a bath in something else than a bathtub.
It took us some time though to reach the island as the commuter trains did not work as usual due to some work being done on this stretch.
First we took the bus (12:29 AM) from our home to Farsta strand (almost thirty minutes) and from there the commuter train to Västerhaninge (more than fifteen minutes). From Västerhaninge another bus to Nynäshamn/Sandtorp (almost thirty minutes) and from there another bus to Torö/Ankarudden (forty minutes) were we took the boat out to Landsort (twenty minutes almost).
A lengthy procedure but it was worth it!
Of course it took us the same amount of time home. We came home at about 9.30 PM.
