De senaste dagarna har vi sett dels filmen Sisters in law dels, under fredagskvällen på Zita, filmen Så firade vi jordens undergång av Catalin Mitulescu, en rumänsk film. Denna ingår i den rumänska filmveckan som just nu pågår på Zita och som jag kan rekommendera alla filmälskare att besöka.
Sisters in law av Florence Ayisi och Kim Longinotto är en dokumentärfilm om ett antal kvinnliga jurister/domare som har att lösa ett antal många gånger upprörande rättsfall i de byar där de vekar i sydöstra Kamerun: Våldtäkter, kvinnomisshandel, barnmisshandel m.m.
Dessa kvinnor skildras med värme och de ger intryck av att vara mycket starka och självständiga.
De vågar också gå in i och ta strid kring ärenden som rör Sharialagarnas uttiolkning.
De ger också kvinnor större självförtroende genom att stötta dem i olika rättsärenden och ifrågasätta det patriarkala systemets överhöghet.
En mycket sevärd dokumentär som jag kan rekommendera, eftersom den ger en mer mångfacetterad bild av ett afrikanskt samhälle, de olika hierarkiska systemen, religionens roll samt kvinnors självständighet och mod, en bild som inte ofta förmedlas via de nyhetsinslag vi erbjuds i TV eller radio.
Så firade vi jordens undergång utspelas i Rumänien och skildrar Ceausescus sista tid vid makten ur ett antal familjers perspektiv. Detta innan de visste att han var på väg att falla. Innan de händelser i Bukarest som ledde till hans undergång och demokratins insteg i den rumänska historien.
Några ungdomars liv gestaltas och hur de hamnar i problem för att de bryter mot de regler som satts upp för att inrikta allt samhällsliv på landsfadern Ceausescu och hans påstådda storhet.
En av de unga skådespelarna finns på plats på Zita och han för ett samtal tillsammans med en rumänsk filmkritiker efter filmen.
Imorgon lördag är det dags att resa till Öland. Vi åker klockan 09.00 från Cityterminalen och blir borta en vecka. Hoppas kunna publicera en del bilder från de platser vi besöker på ön. Vi återkommer med en rapport då vi är tillbaka i Stockholm 31/8-1/9.

The last few days we have seen the film Sisters in law by Florence Ayisi and Kim Longinotto and tonight How I celebrated the end of the World by Catalin Mitulescu, a Rumanian film. This was a film that constituted one in a series of Rumanian films shown at Zita during the Rumanian film week. I recommend those of you who are film lovers to visit this event.
Sisters in law is a documentary about a number of female lawyers and judges working hard to solve a number of, in many ways, shocking cases of violence and criminal behaviour in the villages were they work. This all take place in the southwestern parts of Cameroon.
These women are depicted with warmth and humour and gives the impression of being very strong and independent in their work.
They even dare to look in to cases that concerns the interpretation of the Sharia laws.
Hereby they also give other women courage to fight for their rights against the patriarchal superiority.
A highly recommendable film that conveys a more multifaceted picture of an African society, the different hierarchial systems, the role of the religion and female independence and courage, a picture not so often portrayed in the news features in TV and radio.
How I celebrated the end of the World is a film about the last days of Ceausescus regime and this is depicted from the view point of some ordinary families living and working under the dictatorship.
This is before they knew that the dictator were going to fall. Before the events in Bukarest that led to his fall and death and the beginning of democracy in Rumanian history.
Some youngsters life is depicted and how they get into trouble when breaking the rules set up to aim all societal life on focusing towards Ceausescu and his alleged greatness.
One of the young actors is present at Zita and after the film he talks with a Rumanian film critic about the film.
Tomorrow Saturday, we leave for Öland.
We leave with the bus at nine o'clock in the morning from the City terminal in Stockholm.
We will stay for only one week.
I hope we can publish som pictures from the trip when we come back around the 31 of August or first of September.
