Aurore har aldrig besökt Historiska museet i Stockholm varför vi tog oss dit idag.

Sist jag var där såg jag utställningen om vikingarna.

Nu var det utställningen 'Forntider' där det inte är en historia från en tidsperiod som berättas utan flera historier från olika tider. Detta eftersom forntiden trots namnet självfallet inte var en enhetlig period.

Utställningen omfattar nästan 8500 år och visar på många variationer.
Man ger plats åt historier från olika grupper i samhället. Hur ordnades samhället, vem eller vilka bestämde, hur såg relationen mellan män och kvinnor ut, familjerelationerna?

Det handlar om värderingar, livsstilar och ideal. Människan står i centrum för denna utställning, både den individuella och människan i kollektivet.

Det finns ytterligare utställningar på museet och både Aurore och jag upplevde upplägget och organisationen av uställningen samt det pedagogiska innehållet som mycket väldisponerat.

Efter museibesöket blir jag intervjuad av Norsk Rikskringkasting angående frågan om fria entréer till vissa av de statliga museerna i Stockholm och hur det påverkat min besöksfrekvens samt vad jag tror det betytt rent generellt för museibesöken och utvecklingen av museerna i Stockholm.
Mitt svar blev att det för mig personligen inneburit att jag besökt museer i större utsträckning än jag skulle ha gjort tidigare.
Fr.a har jag tagit mig tid att se hela samlingarna - de som är exponerade - snabbare via fler och tätare besök istället som förut se en liten del och därefter långt senare komma tillbaka för att se resten eller separata utställningar.
Genom de fria entréerna har jag också kunnat göra både och.
Som exempel tog det mig tre dagar och inalles c:a femton timmar att se Nationalmuseums utställningar inkluderande användning av audioguide.

Aurore och jag är dessutom medlemmar i 'Moderna museets vänner', vilket ger gratis entré till inte bara Moderna utan Arkitekturmuseum, Nationalmuseum, Thielska galleriet, Magasin 3, Färgfabriken och Gripsholms slott (om jag inte glömt något?).

'Prehistories' is an exhibition at The Museum of National Antiquities that instead of telling one story of a singel period, tells several stories from different environments and centurys during this period called 'prehistory'.
This, of course, as the terminology 'prehistory' is a word used to define a historical epoch that can not be regarded as one single, uniform period.
The exhibition covers almost 8500 years and during this time great changes took place, of course.
The visitors are given the chance to hear different stories from different groups in society at different times. This is done through reconstructions of customs, habits, clothing, housing and so forth.

One try to answer the question on how the society was organized, the relations between women and men, family life, values, lifestyles and so forth.

The focus is always on the people who were living at a specific place in a specific time.

After the visit at the museum I am being interviewed by Norwegian Radio (NRK) concerning the issue of free entrances at some of the stately museums in Stockholm and the decision from the new government to end this reform.
In Stockholm almost twenty of our stately museums have been free of charge and this during a period of between two or three years.
My answer to the question concerning my own visits, was that they had increased even though I quite often visited museums before the implementation of this reform.
For people in general this has been a good reform in the sense that many persons who previously never visited the museums now more regularly do so.
From a popular adult educational point of view it's of course a very positive reform.
Unfortunately it ends but hopefully people will continue to visit the museums even in the future.

The museums are also free to set the prizes themselves, which means that they have a chance to influence the number of visitors through the entrance fee.
The National Museum of Antiquities is going to charge 50 Skr (5.50 euro) but the Museum of Modern Art on the other hand is going to charge 80 Skr (almost 9 euro).

Maybe a membership in a assistant organization is one solution? Paying a certain sum every year that gives you the opportunity to visit one or many museums as often as you wish during a year?
Aurore and I are members of the association 'Friends of the Museum of Modern Art' and it gives us free entrance to some other museums as well.

In England and other countries where they have initiated this idea of free entrance to museums and galleries - Tate Modern in England among others - it has been a success if one look at the increase in the number of visitors. The same thing goes for Stockholm.
