The King's birthday

Idag är det kung Carl XVI Gustaf's födelsedag och Aurore vill gärna att vi beger oss till Borggården på Stockholms slott för att fira (med honom).

I Frankrike kanske man nu har fått ännu en kejsare - Sarkozy - men någon kung har man inte haft på länge.
Talar man om Frankrike, kan man konstatera att de haft 'kejsare' även i modern tid: Charles de Gaulle, Georges Pompidou och Francois Mitterand. Kanske också Jacques Chirac (som dock tycks ha varit mer 'folklig' än de övriga) och Valéry Giscard d'Estaing till viss del.

Många turister fanns på plats på Borggården och vi såg aldrig kungen själv men däremot drottning Silvia och prinsessan Lillian som skymtade i fönstret mot borggården.
Musik av högvakten och exercis i vanlig ordning självfallet.
Solen skiner men det är mycket blåsigt tyvärr.

Efter detta beger vi oss till Konstakademien på Fredsgatan för att se de utställningar som där visas men de var i full färd med att stänga varför vi endast såg konst av Magnus Bergh.

Dagen avslutas med en pique nique i Kungsträdgården där vi hittar en vindstilla plats och kan plocka upp vårt medhavda samt njuta av solen. Vi njuter inte endast av den (bleka som vi är) utan även av maten (gourmander som vi är).

Tyvärr är det inte så varmt som man skulle kunna önska sig men det är ju tyvärr normalt i Sverige i maj. Längtar efter en varmare plats på jorden men det kanske inte dröjer länge förrän vi har tropiskt klimat i vårt land.

Hem och middag, några timmar senare. Detta så att vi hinner smälta maten för att äta mer.

Today it's the birthday of our king Carl XVI Gustaf and we set out to the castle in Stockholm and the court yard to celebrate (with him).

In France the people may now have got themselves a new 'emperor' with Nicolas Sarkozy but it's a long time since they had a king.
Talking about France, they have had 'emperors' in mordern time too, for example: Charles de Gaulle, Georges Pompidou and Francois Mitterand. Maybe also Jacques Chirac (even though he seems to have been more interested in shaking hands and meeting people directly) and Valéry Giscard d'Estaing to some extent.

A lot of tourists at the court yard and we did not see the king himself, partly because we left before he came out, but we saw queen Silvia and princess Lillian in the window.
Music by the guard and military drill as usual. The sun is shining but unfortunately it's to windy and that is why we leave in advance before the king arrives to the court yard.

We now head towards The Academy of Fine Arts to see four different artists exhibited but unfortunately we come to late and there is only one artist and his work that we actually get a chance to see, namely Magnus Bergh.

The day ends with pique nique in 'Kings Garden'/'Kungsträdgården' where we find a calm and sunny spot on a bench. We enjoy the food (being 'gourmands') and the sun (being pale).
Unfortunately the weather is not yet as warm as one could wish but it's normal when we talk about Sweden in May. I long to a warmer place on earth but maybe I just have to wait a couple of years when the tropical weather hits us!

After this back home to dine (a couple of hours later being enabling us to eat more).
