Dracula: pages from av Virgin's Diary

Jag fortsätter att upptäcka mer av regissören Guy Maddin, en för mig ny bekantskap, förmedlad via Aurore som sett ett flertal av hans filmer.

Denna version av Bram Stokers kända historia om Dracula - 'Dracula: pages from a Virgin's Diary' - är till stor del presenterad för oss i balettens form.
Stilen påminner i mycket om expressionistisk film och tankarna går lätt till Murnau's 'Nosferatu'-filmatisering vad gäller det filmtekniska arbetet och estetiken.
Man använder ibland färg men oftast svart-vitt eller tintad monokrom. Ingen talad dialog utan allt gestaltas via dans, pantomin och textade rutor.

En ovanlig och intressant tolkning rent filmiskt av detta nästintill sönderfilmade tema.

I continue to discover more of Guy Maddin and his world of cinema.
For me a new acquaintance but Aurore have seen a number of his films.

This time it's Bram Stoker's fascinating story of the vampire presented to us in the shape of a ballet: 'Dracula: pages from av Virgin's Dairy'.
The style reminds us of the silent expressionistic cinema of the early 1900's. One come to think of Murnau's 'Nosferatu' when it comes to the film techical part and the aesthetics.
Sometimes Maddin uses colour but mostly black and white and tinted monochrome.
No spoken dialogue but everything is presented to us through dance, pantomime and subtitles.

I liked it very much and it's not at all as any of the other films we seen on this theme.
