Sancerre est une petite ville ou village avec 1900 habitants dans Le Centre (Cher), connu pour ses vins, fromages et - moins connu - ses bières.
La ville est fusionnée avec le village Chavignol connu pour ses fromages de chèvre.
Pour les plupart des français et étrangers, les vins de Sancerre et les autres vignobles dans Le Centre, ne sont pas aussi connu comme les vins de Bordeaux, Bourgogne, Champagne ou Alsace et c'est dommage parce qu'ils sont devenu des vins exceptionnels.
60% de la production part à l'export et quand nous avons visité la Norvège en 2011, nous avons trouvé un rayon impressionnant avec des vins de Sancerre dans une boutique dans le monopole d'alcool (en Norvège comme en Suède il y a toujours le monopole d'alcool, on ne peut pas acheter d'alcool dans des boutiques ou super-marché comme en France et d'autres pays en Europe).
Je peux vous recommander une visite à Sancerre, et le musée a une exposition intéressante et informative sur l'histoire du vin dans cette région.

Sancerre is a small town or village with around 1900 inhabitants in the centre of France (Le Centre, Cher), known for their wines, cheeses and - less known - their beers.
The town is bound together with the village of Chavignol known for its goat cheeses (chèvre).
To most French and foreigners, the wines from Sancerre and other wine districts in 'Le Centre', are not as well known as the wines from Bordeaux, Bourgogne, Champagne or Alsace and that's a pity because they have become very good wines.
60% of the production is exported abroad and when we visited Norway in 2011, we found an impressing shelf with wines from Sancerre in one of the stores of the Alcohol Monopoly (in Norway as in Sweden they still have the alcohol monopoly, one can't buy alcohol in the stores or super markets like in France and other European countries).
I can recommend a visit to Sancerre, and the museum have a very interesting and informative exhibition around the history of wine in this region.
