Mariage : Célébration des neufs ans de mariage. Marriage: Celbrating being married for nine years

Today we celebrate the ninth year after our civil marriage at the Town Hall (Stadshuset) in Stockholm. This was before the religious ceremony in the Swedish Church in Paris.

Everything homemade, by Aurore, except the wines.

Next year, if we are still alive, it will be ten years (logically seen)!!

Sing Wagner in the Street (Chanter Wagner dans la rue)

Among many different celebrations this year, there are two - for the opera art - important figures whose bicentanary we are celebrating this year:
Richard Wagner and Guiseppe Verdi.

The 22nd of May, in only two days, we will be celebrating the 200th birthday of Wagner!
Unfortunately - or fortunately for him, considering his age - he is not among us but we have created an event on Facebook and twitter, called 'Sing Wagner in The Street' or in French: 'Chanter Wagner dans la rue'.

As the name indicates each and everyone participating in this event will contribute with a piece of music by Wagner BUT you are in fact not forced to sing.
If you feel that you haven't yet developed your Wagner-voice to perfection (who has?) you can play an instrument, whistle or - why not - dance!

You film your contribution and publish it on Youtube and Facebook the day after tomorrow: The 22nd of May, Wagners birthday!

We hope you will contribute with something, if only a small piece and remember:

"Wagner's music is better than it sounds." the famous quote often attributed Edgar Wilson Nye, sometimes Mark Twain.

Alfons Mucha 150

Today the very personal and interesting painter and decorative artist Alfons Mucha would have become 150 years old but as this is very rare, we celebrate his memory.
We had the pleasure visiting the museum displaying his art when being in Prague in 2008.
He didn't only paint and make decorative œuvres, he also sculptured and worked with other materials.

The Wedding: Crown Princess Victoria and Daniel

We spent a major part of this day looking at the royal WEDDING in Stockholm between Crown Princess Victoria and Daniel Westling - now being Prince Daniel.
The broadcasting (SvT Play) started at 13.00 and continued throughout the day til 01.00 and we spent our day in front of the computer screen from 13.00 til 20.00.
Everything seemed to work out according to plans and Stockholm and all its inhabitants could enjoy a sunny (some clouds) and fairly warm day.
Whe are not going in to details concerning this event but only bring you the speach the Crown Princess held before the people from the balcony in the castle, before the big gala dinner.

Fête d'inauguration. Chambres d'hôtes chez Le Bihan

Together with Aurore and my mother-in-law, I was invited to Pascal Le Bihan and Cécilia Roiu to celebrate their opening of a 'Chambre d'hôtes', a french term corresponding somewhat to Bed & Breakfast in English.
I met Pascal and Cécilia when participating in the tourist- and cultural heritage-education (Visa Accueil Tourisme) in La Châtre last year.
This is the third 'chambres d'hôtes' in La Châtre:
My mother-in-law has two appartments (she was the first one to open this kind of facility in La Châtre I think), a lady by the name of Maria Deidda (who also participated in the above mentioned education and this evening) proprietor of one chambre d'hôtes and now Pascal and Cécilia.
They are all very different in style, equipment, location (all within La Châtre) with only breakfast or breakfast and lunch, giving visitors the possiblity to choose the one corresponding to their needs and wallets.
My mother-in-law offers the visitors, not two rooms but two appartments (40 and 25 square meters).

Concerning the chambre d'hôte of Pascal and Cécilia the idea is to offer live music for those interested and this through the simple fact that Pascal - besides having worked as a lawyer and being an amateur painter - plays the saxofon and other instruments and in the neighbourhood, there are friends of him being musicians willing to cooperate around this idea. These friends were invited this evening too, of course.
On a summers evening at sunset, sitting outside on the porch or in the garden, drinking something refreshing, listening to live music at your choice, is a nice idea I think.
In connection with weddings there could be a possibility to enjoy music when returning back to the rooms perhaps.
How this is going to be realized in the future, in detail, I don't know but as this 'chambre d'hôte' is newly opened - they have had and do have guests already - wherefore the future will tell.

Before my mother-in-law opened her chambres d'hôtes the only options were the hotels, a hostel and a camping site.
If you don't want to pay for a hotel and also want something more personal than a hotel or a hostel, this is a much more attractive option.

When we knocked at the door friends of Pascal and Cécilia had already arrived and we also got to meet his daughter and later that evening one of his sons.
We started with an apéritif, of course, introducing ourselves to each other, then it was time for the music to start.
Later on there were some very delicious hors d'oeuvre and an extremely tasty dessert, a chocolat truffle made by Cécilia's daughter who also functioned as the hostess, attending us in the most charming way.

In this photo we see Pascal - the Sidney Bechet of Berry - waiting for the other musicians to arrive.

In this photo we see one of his
friends - the Django Reinhardt of
Berry.
For those of you interested in guitars,
he plays on a Gibson!

Or is this perhaps the Django Reinhardt
of this group? On the loudspeaker we see
another guitar name: Ibanez.

This flutist played some
very charming pieces of Irish music...

...together with his guitar playing brother:

More pictures depicting the very same musicians:

Taking a pause in reality as well
as in the musical notation.

On the table in front of Pascal and his musician-
friend we see the delicious chocolatetruffle made
by Pascals daughter. I ate ten or more? Lost count.

It became a very nice afternoon and evening (we came at 3.15 pm and left at 9.15 pm) with a lot of encounters, laughters and of course - the music!
We wish them Good Luck! Bonne chance!

Absinthe to celebrate Norway! (and Marilyn Manson?)

A colleague to Aurore suggested a pique-nique some of the coming days - if the weather conditions improve.
It's not at all bad but in this region and this time of the year, the temperatures are normally higher than right now (17-18 degrees Celsius).
Aurore suggested an absinthe-pique-nique and therefore ordered a couple of bottles from the boutique in Paris where we earlier have bought absinthe, Vert d'Absinthe 11 rue d'Ormesson.
For those of you interested in trying this mythic drink, I recommend a visit.
It's not at all dangerous to drink this, not more dangerous than other drinks, if in moderate quantities.

This is what she ordered...

...and this is what we drank: Mansinthe!

The Norwegian National Day: "Ja vi elsker dette landet"

As:
1. Aurore and I met at the Norwegian Film Festival in Stockholm 2005,
2. Aurore has written about the Norwegian film director Knut Erik Jensen,
3. she is a great fan of Norwegian rock music, literature and film (Scandinavian but not least Norwegian),
4. we had two neighbours in Stockholm with Norwegian parents living on each side of our house,
5. we've visited Oslo together (invited by Knut Erik Jensen for a premiere screening of one of his films),
6. we both would prefer Norway if choosing to live in one of the Scandinavian countries:

We Hereby Pay Our Ttribute To Norway And To All The Norwegian 'Gutter' And 'Piker'!

Congratulations and Happy New National Day!!

Celebrating five and four years!

Today we celebrate that it's five years since we first met, at Cinéma Sture in Stockholm (during the Norwegian Film Festival, 'Kjempegreit').

We also celebrate that it's four years since we got engaged!

Eating at a French-Belgian restaurant tonight, just the two of us!

Valentine's Day

Of course we dined together this very Valentine Day and we had ordered a table at one of the restaurant's in town - just the two of us.

It was very nice and we ate well and in spite of the fact that we have to fight in order to get a job (even though Aurore works), we're happy together and we have gone through some rough time in Stockholm too.
Not caused by us but because of others.

LOVE!

Midsummer 2008

Hervé (cousin) and Catherine (a friend of his and us) had come from Paris to visit us in 'the far North'.

We took them to Skansen (the open-air museum) but unfortunately after most of the dances were over (it was a real mess to enter the park that afternoon).

To find an open restaurant that evening was also a challenge and we ended up at Zum Franziskaner eating potatoes, sausages and fish (wow)!

The rest of the week end was dedicated to visits in 'the colonies' (an area with small houses constructed during WWI with their own gardens, first dedicated to poor people who couldn't afford going abroad, today inhabited by their ascendants, not at all poor and having houses worth many hundres of thousands of Skr) and on the different islands in Stockholm.

It was exhausting for the Parisians, not being used moving their bodies (oh la la!) more than from the appartment to the car, from the car to their work places, from their work places etc... (according to certain polls the average Frenchman and -woman, walks only 300 meters per day!!).

Aurore and the lazy cousin

Valentine's Day

Svenska (English below):

Labneh - Libanesisk kryddad yoghurt.
Jowaneh moklieh - Marinerade stekta kycklingvingar.

English:

Valentine's Day Valentindagen and unfortunately we couldn't avoid working but in the evening I had ordered a table at restaurant Beirut Café (in Stockholm, not Libanon - this time).

We came there at 6 pm and it is a very sober, cozy Lebanese restaurant with excellent service and food.
We chose a 'gustation-menu' with a selection of Lebanese meze with mixgrill.

Could plates:

Hoummos
Moutabbal batinzian
Labneh
Mhamara
Tarator de jez
Warak inab
Ardishoki
Tabbouli
Warm small plates:
Jowaneh moklieh
Sojok
Sambosek
Fatayer
Rkakat
Halloumi mishvie
Main plate:
Gat mashawi
served with rise or borghol.

To this we drank a red wine - Ksara - containing 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and a third grape (I don't remember the name now).
A wonderful evening with my love in a calm atmosphere in spite the restaurant being 'crowded'.
