Bjursell April 2012 updates

Hi there!
You know what?
Gunnar is working in a museum. Not the one which was looking for a janitor but another one which was really looking for a true guide and a curator. Meaning that my foreign husband has a more interesting job in the Center of France than when we were living in Stockholm.
Weird, isn't it?

While I read Swedish books. Unreleased. For a French publisher. I am among those people who read drafts or achieved novels and have to judge them for a specific market. Here, France. As when one watches films, there are embargos. I'm not allowed to talk, write about them or name them until they're released. So you won't read a word about them here.

Otherwise, I must inform you that I rank! Again. My professional website is on the first page of GG France. I get contacts, send offers but haven't found any serious client yet. The main problem not being my ability to rank but the lack of French credentials. Does it mean I will have to contact Scandinavian partners? We'll see...

Being occupied is nice, but not always.
We were invited to a Berry-German wedding in Berlin but won't be able to go there. That's a pity. I have known the groom since 1993 and would have enjoyed a lot going to Germany for the occasion.
And for more than a breakfast at Berlin Train Station.

The latest time we met my friend and his bride to be was during Les Rencontres de Luthiers, last year. It was too short and we are a bit ashamed to stay in Berry instead of finding a way to party in Berlin :-/

Today, for the first time in my (Aurore´s) life, I said no to a part time job. Why?

Well, let's say that the ad was attractive and that the real tasks were not.

We're talking about a summer job at a museum.
The employment office had announced a curator job.

The real position had more to do with a janitor one.

No. Thanks.

Gunnar wrote most of the posts here these latest months because I was too busy with my own staff.
So let me explain why.

Tomorrow starts the Year of the Dragon with my first client for 2012.

What? Do I need clients now?

Well, that's no surprise I have been wanting to freelance for many years without doing it - no money syndrom. Since I

and speak 3 languages- did I mention that I kick ass on Wordfeud in Norwegian?

I entered a business incubator last october.


It means that I presented a solid business plan, attended some exciting bookkeeping course and trained my skills as a salesperson - definitely the toughest point.

What do I do?

I write to engage people, meaning that I combine copywriting, community management and web redaction.


My first two contacts are companies involved with... cinema - which is basically perfect.


I am still waiting for the answer of the second one, a BIG client - the kind of company which is older than my four grand parents - and if it worked out, this means I would promote the company that released the first movie I ever saw on a silver screen [a clue: it's not Disney and the year was 1982]

I know that I am among the last four candidates that were picked up and am really eager to know how my professional life will look like next month. In the worst case scenario, I will have enriched my mainstream film culture these latest weeks (which is a great point for any cinephile).

Now, let's go back to a normal life!

Aurore & Arbetsförmedlingen för Akademiker

Svenska (English below):

Idag åker vi till Stadshagen för att besöka Arbetsförmedlingen för internationella akademiker.
Vill gärna följa med för att höra vad de har att säga med tanke på det dåliga bemötandet senast från handläggarens sida.

Aurore besökte arbetsförmedlingen 13/12 då hennes handläggare bad henne komma till ett besök.
Till saken hör att hon inte uppbär a-kassa eftersom hon inte har svenskt medborgarskap.
Hon erhåller alltså inga bidrag från staten/skattebetalarna. I detta fall hade hon inte själv begärt mötet utan det skedde på handläggarens initiativ.

Mötet skulle äga rum kl. 13.00 och Aurore var på förmedlingen kl. 12.45, tog en kölapp och satte sig för att vänta på sin handläggare. Hennes nummer var på tur men inget hände. Hon väntade till kl. 13.30 utan att någon frågade vem hon var eller ropade upp henne. På en informationsskylt stod att arbetssökande efter att ha tagit en nummerlapp skulle sätta sig ned och vänta på att bli uppropad.

Kl. 13.30 valde Aurore att gå därifrån eftersom hon har viktigare saker att ta sig för än att vänta på en nonchalant handläggare, en person som hon dessutom ser i lokalen gåendes omkring men utan att vidtaga åtgärder för att försäkra sig om huruvida hon är där.

Handläggaren hör senare av sig via mail men Aurore tillskriver chefen för Arbetsförmedlingen för att begära en ny handläggare.
Detta inte minst eftersom han insinuerar att Aurore kanske "tryckt på fel knapp" då hon var på förmedlingen.
Det finns två knappar, en till internationella akademiker, en till Kungsholmens arbetsförmedling.
Aurore förklarade i mailet att hon, enligt tester, har ett IQ på omkring 137(-140) och dessutom är läskunnig!
Handläggarens IQ var förmodligen inte mätbar.

Efter detta bestäms en tid med chefen och det är där vi är idag.

Som de flesta chefer vid olika förvaltningar och myndigheter har även denna kvinnliga chef svårt att klart och tydligt ta ställning och säga att handläggarens uppträdande var felaktigt. Hon försöker istället göra gällande att det skett ett "missförstånd", som det så ofta heter när representanter för en myndighet begår misstag.

Aurore förklarade att något missförstånd var det inte fråga om och att hon inte anser sig ha skäl att gå fram och fråga efter handläggaren eftersom hon inte hade något intresse av ett möte utan det helt och hållet skedde på hans initiativ.

Chefen gör gällande att denna handläggare inte tidigare har fått klagomål på sitt uppträdande, vilket Aurore besvarar att med att "nu har han fått det..."!

I samtalet klargör Aurore att hon inte alls tror att Arbetsförmedlingen kan göra något för henne, vad avser sökande av arbete inom just hennes fält.
Anledningen till att hon anmälde sig hit var att det var nödvändigt för att kunna söka de 'Accesstjänster' den förra regeringen skapade för c:a ett år sedan.

Det tycktes inte som om heller denna chef kände till de s.k. 'Accesstjänsterna'. Hon såg frågande ut.

Det var likadant med arbetsförmedlingen på Lidingö. Ej heller den handläggare hon hade där kände till dessa tillfälliga tjänster.
Det handlar om de extrapengar som den förra regeringen tillslog för att ge högskoleutbildade möjlighet arbeta med de statliga kulturinstitutionernas samlingar för att i större utsträckning kunna bevara, vårda och tillgängliggöra samlingarna.
Detta i syfte att skapa arbetstillfällen - om än tillfälliga - som kan leda vidare till fasta tjänster för människor som utbildat sig inom kulturområdet.
För år 2006 hade man anslagit 275 miljoner kronor som syftade till att ge 650 arbetslösa högskoleutbildade arbete med ovanstående frågor.

För Aurore's del skulle detta kunna leda till arbete med filmarkiv och arbete med museernas filmvisningar, filmarkiv och satsning på att synliggöra sina samlingar via detta medium.

Kontentan av samtalet idag blev att den enda handläggare som i någon mån handhar området som gränsar till det Aurore vill arbeta med är den handläggare hon inte vill ha att göra med.

Dessutom kan de endast erbjuda kurser i hur man söker arbete, formulerar ansökningshandlingar, CV, presenterar sig själv etc. Detta kan Aurore redan och hon har t.o.m. studerat litteratur som jämför hur skillnaderna ser ur mellan Sverige och Frankrike.

Aurore skall fundera över hur hon skall göra, antingen vända sig till denna arbetsförmedling eller arbetsförmedlingen på Lidingö.

English:

Today we visit the 'Employment service for academics'.
Aurore is summoned to a meeting with the head of the 'Employment service' to discuss the behaviour and treatment (or non-treatment) from the handling officer Aurore met the 13th of december.

He summoned her to to a meeting where they were going to discuss in what way the 'Employment service' could help her to find a job.
Aurore does not draw unemployment benefit from the state why she is not a 'burden' to society and not obliged to come to a meeting.
She decided to attend the meeting anyway and it was set to one o'clock a.m. that very same day.
She arrived at 12.45 and she saw the handling officer in the premises but he didn't call her name. She waited 45 minutes and at one thirty she left.
The handling officer sent her a mail after she had sent a mail to the office telling them she was disappointed over his behaviour, asking for another handling officer.

The meeting today is summoned because of this event.

The head of the 'Employment service' tries to blame this 'incident' on a "misunderstanding" between Aurore and the handling officer, as is so common when persons representing an authority makes mistakes.
Aurore told her that it was not a question of misunderstanding and that the handling officer besides this also had insinuated that she might have pressed the wrong button! She informed her that according to tests, she has an IQ of about 138(-140) and she is also literate. He had said other less intelligent things too.

In the end the head and Aurore came to the decision that Aurore has to choose between this office and the regular office at Lidingö.

If she stays here she has to deal with the incompetent handling officer as he - unfortunately - is the only one handling this kind of issues. This is not something Aurore wants, as she needs an intelligent person to talk to. To be continued.
