Idag den sjunde februari är det nyår enligt kinesisk kalender. Det är i år Råttans år.
Vi hade tänkt besöka Östasiatiska museet för att se på firandet där, precis som förra året men det gick inte eftersom man redan firat i förväg, helgen 2-3/2.
Detta förfirande överallt! Det är som då svenskar tror att det är julafton man enligt kristen tradition firar, inte juldagen. Aftonen är ointressant ur ett kristet perspektiv.
Det vore som om man skulle fira sin födelsedagsafton, dagen före födelsedagen.
Kanske en kommande traditon i vårt land?
Förra året hade man på Östasiatiska museet drakdans och annat traditionellt kinesiskt firande. Likadant i år läste vi men fick ej uppleva.
De egenskaper som råttan enligt den kinesiska kalendern sägs ha är både positiva och negativa.
De positiva:
Minutiös, intelligent, karismatisk, charmig, ambitiös, praktisk, arbetsam, vältalig;
De negativa:
Kontrollerande, förbittrad, manipulativ, grym, hämndlysten, envis, maktgalen, kritisk.

Today, the 6th of February, it's New Years Eve according to Chinese calender. It's the year of the Rat 2008.
Our intentins were to visit the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities (Östasiatiska museet) to look at the celebration there, just like last year but unfortunately this was impossible as one already had celebrated the New Year last weekend the 2nd and 3rd of February!
This celebrating in advance everywhere! This is similar to Swedes believing that Christmas Eve is the important day according to Christian tradition not Christmas Day. It's as if one would celebrate the evening before ones birthday. Well, maybe an upcoming tradition in our country?
Last year at the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities one displayed the 'Dragon dance' and other traditional Chinese ways of celebrating the new year. Very colorful! It was the same thing this year but unfortunately we didn't get to see it.
The traits the rat according to the Chinese calendar is said to have is both positive and negative.
The positive ones:
Meticulous, intelligent, shrewd, compassionate, charismatic, charming, ambitious, practical, industrious, honest, eloquent, versatile, familial, creative, hard-working, neat, organized, lovers of music, loving.
The negative ones:
Controlling, obstinate, resentful, lacks-a-sense-of-humor, manipulative, cruel, vengeful, power-driven, critical, possessive, stingy, bossy, fickle, defensive.
